Once the project was approved a team of volunteers began work. Their efforts will reduce
the cost of the project by a considerable amount. In order to prepare for the new
construction much old material had to be removed.
After first covering the floors to be saved, the remaining floors had to be
torn up and thousands of nails removed. Many of the old
plaster and wallboard walls had to be removed and the lathing behind them torn out.
Some ceilings also had to be treated in the same manner.
The back porch had to be removed and the screen on the existing porch had to be removed. Of course all appliances, tubs, toilets,
counters and the like had to be removed.

Some of this was dirty, dusty and back breaking work but the crew worked joyfully. From time
to time new pictures not use in the construction updates will be added to this page. Check back often!
