September 27 update

The week saw a lot more work on the porch, in the
attic, and a milestone was reached as the plumbing is nearly finished.

Pat finishes restoring the porch
floor by smoothing the area
where the front porch meets the
side porch.

The crew has worked hard to  rebuild the rails. This shows the front porch rail completed.

Underneath where few will ever go or see the rot is now gone, the porch is well supported
for many years to come.

When the old rails were removed the
columns had to be replaced or repaired depending upon their condition. Here
the holes left by the old rails are
plugged, sanded, and carefully filled
 to preserve this column.

This is the side porch.
The finished portion of the rail
begins to give a feel for how beautiful
the entire porch is going to look.

Meanwhile inside there's more of the
original molding to remove.  This is in
 preparation for stripping the paint,
refinishing. and reinstallation.

Plumbing is nearly complete. These
pipes supply the kitchen sink
and dishwasher. Hot water pipes go
to each so that they can have a separate
supply cut off.

This week the two chimneys in
the attic began coming down. There will be a faux chimney placed on the roof in exactly the same place to maintain the historic profile of the building.

A central vacuum system is being installed. Most of
the pipes necessary were installed this week.
