May 16, 2008 update

Everyone continues to celebrate the steady progress...

This detail piece was salvaged from the downstairs arches during
renovation and was cleaned,
repaired, and reinstalled.

It served as the pattern for the remaining
pieces we needed and Mike manufactured
exact replicas.

Last week we saw the range hood. Here you
see the cabinet that will hide it along
with the directional lighting. A piece of original heart pine from the old manse will fill the inset in the bottom middle.

The cabinet work continues. Here the supports
for the extended granite countertop are now
in place so that stools can be used to sit at the counter from the family room side.

The lattice around the house progressed
significantly this week winding around
the back to match up with that which remained
in front of the house.

New attic windows look out on the back yard. You get a feel for how the finished home will feel when you visit the attic.

Volunteers worked this week to clean old bricks
salvaged during the renovation. These will be used in
rebuilding the front steps. It's hard work and
more help is needed!

The pad for the new front steps was laid
this week. Rebuilding the steps must wait
though until more bricks are cleaned.
