March 29th  update

In the two weeks since our last update the crew continues
to address critical but tedious jobs... among them hanging doors, installing
molding, and placing countertops.

balusters for stairs now installed

Working down from the attic, the small
access doors were hung and molding applied.

One of these doors was special, salvaged
from the original attic, stripped and rebuilt.

The balusters we saw being manufactured in
our Feb.29 update are now installed,
ready for the stair rails.

The wood molding for the arches in the downstairs hallway is being installed. Each was custom made and involved bending the wood with heat and pressure.

The base cabinet in the upstairs bath has
been in place for several weeks. This week
the molded top was installed.

As was the vanity top for
 the master bathroom.

repairing wallboard

The process of putting molding in place
is complicated by the meshing of old
and new. The need to drop the ceiling
just a couple of inches meant a
series of difficult angle cuts.

All of the old doors were sanded down to
bare wood before being re-hung. Here Rick has
found the perfect place to work on a
sunny spring day.

Touch up and the inevitable need to
repair minor dings is already underway.
Here Michael tries his hand
at wallboard patches.
