August 1  update

Steady progress continues both on the new
addition and inside.

As the siding moved upward preparations began
for installing the soffit and then
installing molding which will blend the look
of the new addition into that of the historic home.

The bricklayers are working in the kitchen, raising the hearth above
counter level and preparing to
create a small, curved, fireplace.

The final pieces of siding on each wall are carefully
cut to size.  Here one is prepared to go over a window. While it would be easier to cut three pieces it would be unsightly and poor workmanship.

Here the siding piece is installed over the window.

Nearly finished, the kitchen
fireplace looks like a traditional oven. The new work blends into
 the old and supports the
 fireplace above it.

The soffit is now installed along the driveway
side of the house and the tedious process of
custom cutting and installing the molding has
begun.
