Progress on the addition continues.
First the walls were framed up. Then the
roof trusses were installed.  Almost without
notice the brickwork on the foundation
was patched closing in the storage area.

Framed with 2x6 lumber and substantial headers the walls were
heavy challenging three men to lift them into place.

The new bathroom and hallway fit nicely
The deck, not yet planked, is on the
left, the extension of the porch
is at the end of the hall.

Great pains were taken to get the corners square and the walls
straight up and down.

The first roof truss was tied into the existing
structure carefully.

Here a wide shot shows the addition
completely framed as the crew works
on the first roof truss. This is - obviously -
the rear of the house facing
toward the river.

The foundation has been seamlessly
 repaired closing in the newly
 concreted storage area.

By the end of the week all roof trusses on the main addition were
in place. We begin to have a feel for what has been added to
the original manse. While certainly not enough to overpower
the architectural feel of the historic building it will add valuable
and useful living area for our future ministers.

A new beam made of laminated 2x6's now supports the
bathroom over the kitchen. Additionally there is a
piece of angle iron bolted to it. The wall now meets
our engineer's requirements. The old post on the right
will eventually be removed.
