Construction Begins!
April found us with an approved building permit and ready to begin.
Our contractor, Michael Kaiser of Job Construction, was immediately on site
laying out the addition to the rear of the first floor
(see renovation plans).
Shortly thereafter volunteers dug the trench for the footings. Then the footings were poured and local experts were called in to build the piers.

When it was time to dig the trenches for the footings even our contractor grabbed a shovel.

But he wasn't alone, volunteers were down in the dirt and participating with great energy.

Is my shovel longer than your is? And how deep were we supposed to go? The thinking part was the hardest work done.

local experts built the piers

footings were poured

in one day the piers were in place

Fortunately skilled local craftsmen were brought in to lay the blocks.

After the footings were poured. And the piers were brought up to height even with the existing structure.
