Welcome to
Our Effort to
Preserve the
Manse!

This is the home of the Presbyterian Church on Edisto Island's Effort to Renovate
and Restore

The Historic Presbyterian Manse

built during the tenure of Rev. William States Lee who served our congregation from 1820-1873 the current building is possibly the third manse constructed on this site.

The Historic
Manse

 The Manse:
 the historic manse has served
as the home of  dozens of church pastors and their families beginning with the
Rev. William States Lee in 1838.
It is  on the National Registry
of  Historic Places.

Now we are preparing it for our new minister, Rev. David Lindsay and his family Emily, Hank and Eliza.  We welcome them
to Edisto and to our church community.

The Sanctuary
Renovation

The Sanctuary:
built in 1830, the Sanctuary is an island landmark.
Restored most recently in 2004 at a cost of $750,000 it now serves it's
congregation and the island community
in it's original, functional beauty.
Also on the National Registry of Historic Places,
it stands as a testament
to the importance of  worship to
the 18th century planters who built it
and to the continued faith and dedication of the
generations  of  islanders who has preserved it.

is one of the oldest
Presbyterian congregations in South Carolina and consequently the country, the church was formed in 1710.
It continues today to serve not only it's congregation
and our island through outreach within our  community
 and by supporting missions through
